Thank you to St Mary’s Church, Beaminster

A huge thank you to St Mary’s Church, Beaminster for allowing us to run our band and group work sessions from the church.

On Tuesday nights, our Phoenix Youth Band will meet from 6.15 to 7.30. They will follow all COVID guidelines to remain safe, which sadly means we will be an instrumental band only.

We have 3 spaces if any young person aged 9-14 would like to join us, please contact Paula.

DO YOU HAVE A YOUNG PERSON WHO IS NOT ATTENDING SCHOOL AT THE MOMENT?

We are running a set of 6 sessions after half term on Resilience & Coping Strategies which are aimed at supporting young people who may be finding life difficult at the moment. The sessions are FREE and are run by 2 qualified youth workers, Paula and Henri. They will run on Thursday mornings from 9am – 12 noon in St Mary’s Church. We help young people through a supportive, peer mentor model of work where young people are empowered to make changes to identify and understand their emotions.

Both of these sessions are closed groups and once registered a young person is expected to attend all 6 sessions. This is vital to enable us to keep to COVID safety guidelines.

Please call Paula on 07802514171 if you would like to register or just to find out more.

PROUT BRIDGE PROJECT OUTREACH INFORMATION

Following last night’s announcement from the government I have contacted Dorset Police to ensure that we are assisting rather than hindering Police efforts at this difficult time. They have confirmed that it will continue to be a valuable service to young people and other members of the public.

We will be out during the hours below to ensure that anyone can make contact with us, if they need support for themselves or know of someone else who needs help. We will also be able to ensure that vulnerable young people have up to date information to enable them to keep themselves safe.

We will obviously be complying with the social distancing rules and ask that if any member of the public does want to talk to us, they recognize the need for us to remain 2 metres away. We will also be complying with the legal limit of 2 workers together at a time.

When will we be out:

  • Tuesday 6pm – 8pm

  • Wednesday 5pm – 7pm

  • Thursday 12.30pm – 1.30pm

  • Friday 7pm – 9pm

We will be wearing our Hi-Viz jackets and will have our ID cards on us. Please approach us if you need help or just want a chat – at a 2 metre distance please.

Stay safe. Paula

The Ollerod makes the Prout Bridge Project their charity of the year

We are so excited that our close neighbours on Prout Bridge, the Ollerod, have just made us their nominated charity for the rest of the year. We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone on the wonderful Ollerod team for their support.

We have our work cut out at the moment trying to raise funds to keep the Prout Bridge Project running and growing - so that we can continue to offer affordable activities for people of all ages with a particular focus on youth work and also to work towards the vision of creating a thriving community hub at the heart of our town where everyone can go to come together socially, make friends, join in and support each other. So partnership like this from a local business makes all the difference and we are so grateful!
